The diameter of your skateboard wheels affects your skateboard's acceleration and final speed. Smaller wheels accelerate faster, but don't maintain that speed as long. Larger wheels do the opposite.

The diameter of your wheels should match the height of your truck. If your wheels and trucks don't match, there are some disadvantages. The most significant disadvantage is wheel bites.

The second important factor in choosing skateboard wheels is the hardness or durometer.

The degree of hardness is indicated on the A scale. The higher the A value, the harder the urethane in the skateboard wheels.

The ideal wheel has a good mix of grip and slide. Hard wheels slide very well but have little grip. With soft wheels, the opposite is true.
